CONFLICT MANAGEMENT SIMULATION SIGN-UP

In this course, you will have an opportunity to practice your skills by working with live, virtual avatars as you apply collaborative conflict management strategies and skills to a workplace situation. Today, you will complete the first step of the Simulation process by scheduling your Simulation day and time. Your live Simulation experience will take place during Week 6 of the course.

Important Note: You will not be graded on your performance during the Simulation activity in Week 6; rather, this exercise is a tool to practice your collaborative conflict management skills.

Remember, you are not expected to complete your Simulation this week, but rather to schedule when your Simulation will take place. We are asking you to schedule your Simulation now so that you will know when this important event is happening far enough in advance that you will be able to schedule other activities around it.

To complete this Assignment and receive participation points, you must complete a two-step process. To begin step 1, please use the Simulation Session Guide link below to schedule a day and time during Week 6 to complete your simulation experience. Hiring executives, compensating employees, and situations related to managing vendors are examples of situations in which the parties are exchanging something of value, which often requires HR professionals to utilize effective negotiation skills and strategies. CONFLICT MANAGEMENT SIMULATION PREP AND ASSIGNMENT

PART 1: SIMULATION PREPARATION

In Week 6, you will have an opportunity to put theory into practice by participating in an online simulation experience within a virtual classroom environment. This unique simulation experience will allow you to interact online in real time with two avatars—a Global ProTech employee and his manager, who are in the midst of a conflict. Although Global ProTech has a flex-time policy with regard to arrival time, the manager is frustrated because the employee has been chronically and unpredictably late to work. Unknown to the manager, the employee has recently taken on the care of an older parent.

In the Simulation, you will be presented with four challenges related to the scenario above. Use the time this week to review the specifics of the experience as well as additional supportive information in the materials below.
