Instructions

Step 1 – Identify an existing system or application that you frequently use.

Step 2 – For that same system or application, propose a new feature or an enhancement that leverages artificial intelligence (AI). This could be anything from an AI-driven chatbot for customer service, a recommendation engine for a shopping site, or a predictive analytics dashboard for a business application. Use the template provided below, to write a detailed specification for your AI-driven feature or enhancement:

Step 4 – Role-Play Interaction with ChatGPT as a Project Manager

Simulate real-world interactions you might have with a Project Manager when proposing a system feature. As a former Project Manager, I’d often collaborate with non-tech business users in meetings like this to effectively transform business ideas into actionable projects.

1. Initiate the Role-Play with ChatGPT:
   1. Use the prompt provided below to start a conversation with ChatGPT, where you act as the person suggesting a feature for a system.
      

      Sample prompt template (use this one and edit it): “Hello, I am [Your first name – or whatever you want to write here], and I’d like to discuss the implementation of a new feature for [System/Application Name]. The feature I have in mind is [Brief Feature Description – copy/paste what you described one of your features to be].I’d appreciate your insights and questions as a Project Manager to help ensure that what I have described is understood so that the feature can come to reality with a smooth implementation process. Please note that I have introductory information systems management knowledge, and that I am not a technology expert, so please keep this in mind with any questions that you may ask me.Let’s chat about this in a conversational manner as if we were in a meeting. Please only ask one question at a time.

1. Engage in the Conversation:
   1. Exchange messages with ChatGPT.
   2. Respond to at least 6 questions from ChatGPT.
   3. Each of your replies should be 1-3 sentences in length. If you wish to provide more detail, that’s fine; there’s no penalty for longer responses.
   4. If you encounter a “Yes/no” style question from ChatGPT, it doesn’t count towards the 6-message exchange.
   5. If you can’t answer or don’t understand a question from ChatGPT:
      1. Request another question.
      2. Ask ChatGPT to rephrase the question for clarity.
2. Once you’ve answered 6 questions from ChatGPT (also known as your virtual project manager), you are to ask ChatGPT to summarize what it has interpreted as your feature request. Use the following prompt:
   

   Based on what we’ve discussed, what would this feature request look like? Provide a detailed overview of what you’ve documented as my requirements.

3. Document Your Interaction in a Microsoft Word document:
   1. Take screenshots of your conversation with ChatGPT. These screenshots will be part of your assignment submission. Ensure that you capture the entire conversation.
   2. Copy/paste what ChatGPT tells you about the detailed overview that it has documented as your requirements per the conversation that you had with ChatGPT (that’s based on the prompt that says “Based on what we discussed..”).

By participating in this role-play, you’ll practice clearly articulating your ideas, a critical skill when working with project management and information systems professionals in the real world.

Step 5 – For both features (AI-driven and non-AI-driven) you’ve specified, highlight how they intersect with the key stages of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Use the stages listed below and provide a brief 2-4 sentence explanation (total per both features, not for each individual feature) for each stage about how your features corresponds to that stage:

• Planning:
  • Describe briefly how you’d plan the integration of your features into the existing system or application. (2-4 sentences)
• Requirements Gathering:

• Design:
  • Offer a concise idea about how the design phase would cater to your features – what UI/UX changes might it necessitate. (2-4 sentences)
• Implementation:
  • Consider any specific tools, or platforms needed to implement your features. (2-4 sentences)
• Maintenance:
  • Reflect on potential challenges in maintaining your features in the long run, any updates it might require, or its impact on the system’s overall maintenance. (2-4 sentences)
