• This article discusses the psychology behind game-based learning. It identifies how games in education can provide students with social, emotional, and cognitive experiences which is important for students even in early stages of life. It goes further into detail how these experiences can enhance students’ future academic success. Bringing games into the classroom is discussed in the article as a new teaching method, as it has a strong element of problem solving. An aspect as to why individuals find games so intriguing is because of the elements of problem-solving skills. I think this is important because this game-based learning method can be integrated into the classroom in a variety of ways at a variety of grade levels. For example, preschoolers can do simple games or games where there is no real winner, whereas a high school course can be coding their own game. In this game-based teaching it is also vital to remember that children should be recognized for their efforts and not their success. This is especially important because game-based learning assist students by adjusting the difficulty to all the players/students. One notion that I would like more clarification on in the article is that the emotional benefits can assist students in their anxiety, where I feel that it can actually raise their anxiety if not done properly. Yet, as the article discusses it does teach children to play and interact with each other in a positive manner.
