Criminal Justice Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden Worksheet

Part 1

Two current events that have taken place in recently are the Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden whistle-blower cases. Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison for providing more than 700,000 government files to WikiLeaks, a gigantic leak that lifted the veil on American military and diplomatic activities around the world.

Snowden is currently fugitive who has been charged with theft of government property, unauthorized communication of national defense information and willful communication of classified intelligence to an unauthorized person (June 2013). There have even been two recent IRS agents that testified before congressional committees with regards to money laundering. you may also utilize these individuals if you like in your discussion. In this assignment, you need to select one professional field/discipline from the list below:

Once you identify the field of your choice, you will need to conduct a brief literature review. The literature review must rely on current research, on policies, strategies, best practices, education and training, and collaboration. Your literature will rely on published research and policy development in journals, agency reports, public policy and laws, and other resources that will lead to a thorough review of the scope of trauma informed services, strategies, policies, best practices and training as it relates to your specific discipline. Once the literature is complete you will have adequate evidence to discuss in great detail the following areas of inquiry:

a) Explain how your discipline addresses victimization/ trauma? Discuss whether your discipline is trauma informed discipline/field. Be specific focus on your topic for this semester!

b) Does your selected field require trauma focused professional development? If so, explain both formal and informal availability higher education and training, discuss the course, curriculum and program content as it pertains to trauma.

c) Are there any credentials, certifications, or state licensing associated with the professional Development required/recommended in this discipline?

d) What Policies and Procedures are in place within your selected discipline to support victim centered or trauma informed care and services?

e) While exploring your field and its focus on trauma care, identify the interagency, interdisciplinary linkages/collaboration and partnerships are critical to the success of your discipline in supporting clients impacted by the specific victimization or trauma. Again, make sure that you focus on your specific topic

f) After a thorough review of your discipline and its trauma informed strategies, describe the gaps – what’s missing, what can be improved, what should be the next steps to increase support to trauma victims?
