Increasingly, professional success depends upon your ability to work effectively within and sometimes lead a team. The team has become the basic unit of performance in modern organizations. The ability to develop and lead teams, particularly interdisciplinary teams, is becoming a core competency for nursing leaders.

In the second section of this assignment, consider the importance of collaboration and courage as fundamental skills necessary when leading teams. Both traits can be demonstrated through the behavior of the leader. There are signs that the staff need to see in the leader to indicate he or she acts courageously, such as:
