An organization uses key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the processes involved in operating a global supply chain to identify strategies that are not performing well and need improvement.

One KPI that I have often used would be in reference to Internal Process Quality. This process deals with the business internally verses using outside influence or involvement. What this is, is taking a look at the company from within. Coming up with different strategies that can be used to make the business succesful. This will also help you evaluate where the strong and weak points are. You have the option to evaluate the weak points to see why they did not work, if they could be improved, or if they should be taken out and a newer process established.

This also helps you have an idea of the positional of specific people that you need in order to run the company efficiently, as well have a strong product that you are introducing to the world. Sometimes that product can be something brand new that no one has heard of. Or, it could be something that is already out there but your company has made significant improvements to make the product more appealing and beneficial to the consumer. All of these things are needed in order to make sure that you profit and expand. Another part of that is that you make sure you have the best current technology and devices needed for the particular product you are manufacturing.

KPI which stands for “Key performance indicator” is an objective or over goal. This is typically used in a work setting and is a target for a team to accomplish. This method is used in global supply to monitor how well the supply chain is doing; one way that I have seen KPI provided support to the global supply chain is by continuously being aware of the amount that of units are being sold. In my experience I work in accounting so we keep a close eye to how much we are bringing in daily. For an organization to decide what KPI is used it can vary to each company or organization as well as what their supply chain is. One KPI that would be used to provide that the company suceeds would be “Inventory to sales ratio” ISR this tactic would be used for warehouses, this tactic would give them the number of product being sold so that they know how much to manufacture.
